QOLGR Review Paves the Way for Digital Wallet “Top-ups” at CashConnect ATM Plus

Banktech today reported it has received confirmation from the Queensland Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (QOLGR) relating to the use of its innovative CashConnect ATM Plus terminal which allows patrons to top up digital wallets using cash.

Apart from the normal ATM functionality of cash withdrawals and enquiries, Banktech’s CashConnect ATM Plus machines include a bank note acceptor and QR code scanner that allows customers to “top-up” digital wallets at the ATM with physical cash. Ladbrokes was the first company to partner with Banktech and the innovative ATMs.

The QOLGR understands “the ATM will facilitate the use of a digital wallet for the purpose of making cash deposits with a range of retailers including online corporate bookmaker, Ladbrokes. While the functionality is currently restricted to cash deposits the ATM machines will eventually allow its customers to withdraw cash and access account balances”.

The QOLGR has confirmed that using ATM Plus to put cash into a digital wallet does not cause a pub or club to be in breach of legislation administered by QOLGR. Banktech considers that this confirms its view that using ATM Plus to “top up” a bookmakers digital wallet is not facilitating wagering.

CashConnect ATM Plus is the next generation ATM and is “the bridge between cash and digital payments”. More services will attract more foot traffic and also earn the venue transaction revenue.

Banktech and its participating venues are also supporting those less fortunate in the community. The pandemic hit charities hard particularly with the decline in cash usage. ATM Plus allows patrons to donate cash to a range of well known charities.

Banktech has more than 2,500 ATMs across Australia that it has already commenced upgrading to offer ATM Plus functionality.
